How do you describe your photographic style? |
It always derives from what's available in natural subjects. I focus on features that stand out from a subject rather than the subject as a whole, like the tree barks instead of the tree. Choosing the right lighting is very important to bring out shades and textures, and to add emphasis on interesting features. I would say my style is a close interaction with natural subjects. |
What do you seek out when shooting your photos? |
It takes many photo shoots before having something specific to seek out. It's something that evolves over a variety of shots of a subject. Some shots have more impact that others, these are the ones I go after, the next time I shoot. |
How long have you been shooting photographs? |
Since 1980, my focus has always been on nature photography. Nature offers an endless photo opportunities to explore. |
Who were some influential photographers in your style? |
National Geographic photographers were a prime source of ideas in the beginning. My most influential source has actually been a book, The Photographer's Handbook. I don't really follow any specific photographer's style. Arizona Highways magazine has been a great source of awe in the last few years, their photography is absolutely stunning. |
Where have you published your photographs? |
Some of my photos have been published in a few books, magazines, and calendars. Recently I decided to try the web as a place to display and sell them. It's one of the most convenient media there is, and I'm happy to see thousands of websurfers every month visiting my photo website. |
Where do you find those wonderful, abstract shots? |
Everywhere I go hiking, mountain biking, or off-roading. I always carry my camera and a tripod. When I spot interesting photo subjects, I start looking around for some good angles. I often have to choose favorable lighting to get better shots and time my day trip accordingly. |
